Stephen Bunting Delivers the Bullet To Seal the Isle Of Man Open 2013 Darts Winner
Stephen Bunting became the 23rd name to grace the Isle of Man Open trophy with a 4-2 victory over Darryl Fitton in the final on Sunday. Bunting whose recent good form has seen him claim two major titles and numerous ranking titles added another crown to his growing collection.
In the semi-final he came through a thrilling encounter with Scott Waites who came back to level the match at 2-2 before Bunting won the bull before sealing a 3-2 victory with an impressive 13 dart leg, meanwhile Darryl Fitton received a walk over after Steve Douglas was taken ill over night and had to fly home.
Anastasia Dobromyslova claimed the Womenís title with a 4-0 victory over Lisa Ashton in a repeat of the 2013 Lakeside World Final, Both players had been in fine form earlier in the day with Dobromyslova ending the challenge of Deta Hedman in the semi-final and Ashton ending the challenge of Trina Gulliver, who was suffering with a hip problem.
There were also wins for Glen Durrant and Tony Eccles who claimed the menís pairs title, Lorraine Farlam and Anastasia Dobromyslova who claimed the ladies pairs title and Scott Waites and Dee Bateman who claimed the mixed pairs title. Anastasia was unlucky not to complete a treble as she joined forces with Stephen Bunting in the mixed pairs but the duo fell short, losing in the final to Waites and Bateman.
