A180's Stephen Bunting claimed victory in the Cheshire Open on Sunday 30th September with victory over Ian White in the final. Stephen defeated a long list of top quality dart players on his way to the final, including Joe Murnan, Fred Smith, Ross Smith, Steve Wilson, Pete Boughey (with a 112 average) and John Brameld in the semi-final. Stephen then went on to claim a narrow win in the final, running out 7-6 winner over Ian White.
This fantastic run of victories saw Stephen claim the top prize of £1200 in the prestigious event sponsored by A180 Darts and Fords of Winsford
The trophy has been renamed this year in memory of Pauline Stafford who was a great servant of Cheshire darts over a number of years and was an inspiration to Stephen during his early career, bringing him into the Cheshire squad along with Tony O'Shea and Darryl Fitton, as well as pushing him on to claim an England place
Stephen paid tribute to Pauline after claiming the title; "So proud to become Pauline Stafford Memorial Cheshire Open Champion. Having played under the great Pauline at Cheshire I am proud and privileged to have been a part of it and it makes the title extra special to know Pauline is looking down on us all. Thank you Pauline for everything you did for me in my darting career. We will never forget you."
