De Vos, when asked how he managed to plough back the deficit he said: ĒYou just never give up.Ē

The ladies final was contested by current World Darts Trophy holder Anastasia Dobromyslova and current Lakeside world champion Lisa Ashton. Local girl Lisa ran out the winner in a reverse of last yearís final Ė 7-5.

Lisa, who lost her dad in the run-up to the tournament, said: "My win's a tribute to my dad. I promised him I would still come and do this and I'd like to dedicate this trophy to him. He has helped me all the way and I know he is still here with me. I'm sure he was talking to me throughout."

Stephen Holland, managing director of BDO Events, said: " It has been a terrific tournament with some great darts throughout. The venue is perfect and the EventCity crowd played their full part in delivering  an amazing atmosphere.Ē
